Museum & Students Team To Benefit Doctors

Brighten up your world and help our global community at the same time! Hosting its third Annual Spring Exhibition & Benefit Print Sale, June 19 through June 29, 2008, Hallmark Museum of Contemporary Photography is once again collaborating with volunteer students from Hallmark Institute of Photography, to benefit Doctors Without Borders. A festive public celebration with refreshments and live music will be held Saturday, June 21 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Gallery 85, Avenue A, Turners Falls, Massachusetts, to promote this event.Showcasing over two hundred photographs by students from the Class of 2008, the graduating professional photographers have generously donated their photographs to this worthy cause. All proceeds from the print sale will benefit, Doctors Without Borders/Medecins san Frontieres (MSF), an international humanitarian medical organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and manmade disasters, or exclusion from healthcare, in more than 70 countries around the world. This organization of doctors, nurses, water-and-sanitation experts, administrators and other medical and non-medical professionals volunteer their services selflessly, and depart on more than 3,800 aid missions annually.
This special exhibition is a delightful visual array of diversity within the medium of photography, highlighting prints of exceptional quality that will appeal to a wide range of personal tastes and decors. For individuals who love nature, there are breathtaking landscapes, seascapes, and intricate studies of flowers and wildlife. For those who find people fascinating, portraits of children and unusual faces will give glimpses into different lifestyles and human experiences. Architectural details, abstracts, and perspective studies, will attract the eyes of anyone who is enlivened by color and form. Many more images, involving an even broader choice of subjects will also be on display. Each print can be purchased framed or unframed, and all are modestly priced. No purchase is required to view the exhibition and the museum never charges an admission fee.

The Hallmark Museum of Contemporary Photography Gallery 85 is located at 85 Avenue A, corner of 3rd Street, downtown Turners Falls, Massachusetts. Regular museum hours are Thursday-Sunday, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Free parking is available curbside and in the Shea Theater designated areas.
